Jeanette Samyn is a birth doula and a Queens native. Having spent the last decade as an academic researcher and teacher, she loves to guide clients through the overwhelming amount of information available to expecting parents, empowering them to decide what works best under their unique circumstances. In addition to evidence-based resources, she also offers an extensive range of physical and emotional support, using such tools as active listening, open communication, movement, massage, stretching, visualization, and breath work to help clients ground, relax, and gather strength.
Trained through Carriage House Birth in Brooklyn, Jeanette holds a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University, a Ph.D. from Indiana University, and a Reiki 1 Certification from the Maha Rose Center for Healing in Brooklyn. She lives in Astoria with her partner, Ryan; their toddler, Leo; and their dog, Gordy. She is dedicated to treating all birthing persons and their families with sensitivity, openness, and care.
