Bori Laki

I came across the word doula after my own two births, when I was helping a friend of mine with hers. At that time there were no trainings in Hungary, Budapest (where I'm from), so I had nowhere to go to learn how to help women with their births. Nonetheless, I helped my friend and my sister in law with her baby during the birth and helped them and many friends and family members as a post partum doula after their babies were born.

With my own two births I used homeopathy to aid the birth, breastfeeding and postpartum needs.

When I came to New York over two years ago, I soon realized that this is my path and started training with DONA International. My main goal as a doula is to help the birthing mother feel as safe and comfortable as possible, and, even more importantly, work with her to build her self confidence regarding giving birth. I believe that birthing happens as much in the mind/soul as in the physical body, and if the mother is well informed and aware of what's happening in her body, it will make her be able to keep her calm, strength and confidence.

My training as of now includes doula training with DONA international, the DONA Childbirth class, the DONA Post Partum Doula training, Manhattan Birth’s Lactation basics Course and Lactation Case Studies Workshop.
I am also a certified Holistic Doula, trained by the Whapio Diane Pilgrim (The Matrona).

I love aromatherapy and essential oils, and I use them to make my own pure, organic face and body creams, scrubs and oils that are a big help in reducing the dryness of the skin, eczema, and the appearance of stretch marks.
